Torrey Snow’s cogent Nov. 6 commentary underscoring Gov. Wes Moore’s feckless redistricting effort is spot on (“Last thing Maryland needs is Wes Moore’s redistricting commission“). As noted by letter writer Lyle Rescott (“What ‘fair’ maps in Maryland would really look like,” Nov. 7), Gov. Moore’s initiative is a self-serving attempt to emulate California Governor Gavin Newsom, who has gained national political traction by successfully securing voter approval to redraw congressional lines in his state.

Gov. Moore’s patent ambition is not worth the litigation costs borne by Maryland taxpayers that would, once again, inevitably follow a brazen partisan overreach.
