I was born in New York City, the son of an Italian immigrant. My father worked as a concrete mason on the Empire State Building and later became a homebuilder. I named my company, Terra Nova Ventures, after his hometown in Southern Italy. He worked in Mayor Fiorello La Guardia’s administration in the 1930s. And now we have an avowed socialist and anti-Israel and antisemitic candidate running for and likely to become the next mayor of the great city of New York (“Hundreds of thousands reportedly vote early in New York City election,” Oct. 27).

And where is Michael Bloomberg, former three-term mayor of the city and great benefactor of Johns Hopkins University? His silence is absolutely frightening.  Does he not care about the future of the city that he once led? One would think some journalist would be curious enough to ask him where he stands.
