Learn about Maryland’s rich nautical past at “Guiding the Bay: A Pilot’s View of Maryland’s Maritime History,” a virtual program, at Maryland Center for History and Culture, 610 Park Ave. Chesapeake writer and educator Kate Livie will moderate the talk between pilot, artist and historian Brian Hope and maritime historian Pete Lesher. The discussion centers on pilots, a local ship-handling specialist who navigates a vessel safely into port.
