Report: Eight Democratic senators met privately to discuss ending shutdown

Sources familiar with the Democrats’ meeting said the lawmakers' talks were very “sensitive” and that Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., would need to assure them that President Donald Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., would seriously consider any proposal to extend the subsidies, according to The Hill.
