Gervonta “Tank” Davis’ domestic violence case has been dropped, according to the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office.
Davis, 30, was originally arrested in Miami Beach in July for an alleged domestic dispute with his former partner in June. He was charged with misdemeanor battery.
According to Lissette Valdes-Valle, a spokesperson with the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office, the case was dropped because Davis’ ex-girlfriend decided not to prosecute.
“This case was dropped as the victim is declining to prosecute per her attorney, Lindsey Chase, Esq., and her sentiments were directly confirmed by the Assistant State Attorney handling the prosecution,” Valdes-Valle said. “The incident itself was not observed by the police officer who had been called to the scene, eliminating him as a possible witness to what had transpired.”
Valdes-Valle said the witness to the incident, the mother of Davis’ ex-girlfriend, failed to cooperate with the court after being subpoenaed to testify. The witness also failed to answer the phone when contacted for the case.
According to his ex-girlfriend, she and Davis had a physical confrontation when he came to pick up their children for Father’s Day.
After he told her to remove the children from the vehicle, Davis allegedly struck his ex-girlfriend in the back of her head and slapped her, according to his ex-girlfriend.
Davis, an undefeated boxer (30-0-1, 28 knockouts), has been arrested and charged for multiple fights in Maryland, Virginia and Florida. Several of those cases were either dismissed or abandoned.
In 2023, Davis was sentenced to 90 days of house arrest after a hit-and-run that injured four people in downtown Baltimore in 2020. Davis is also on probation, which he violated several times.
In February, Davis violated his probation by traveling from Baltimore to Florida. His probation was extended by 18 months for the violation and he was ordered to make payments to charity.
Davis’ next fight is scheduled for Aug. 16, a rematch with Lamont Roach Jr. Davis previously fought Roach Jr. in March, which resulted in a draw. He is the World Boxing Association lightweight champion.
