Freedom Area residents say uncontrolled development has led to dangerous traffic on area roads like MD 26, prompting the county to consider temporarily pausing permitting for some new developements in the area. 
The move would give county officials more time to consider updating zoning laws in Eldersburg and Sykesville, a growing part of Carroll. But some commissioners are worried that it isn't entirely legal.
