Howard officials question $100,000 bus routes for students 0.3 miles away

Some Howard County students live less than half a mile from their schools — but still ride buses costing the district roughly $100,000 each per year, officials said. Board of Education members say simple safety improvements, like crossing guards or crosswalks, could cut those costs.
